Bad news, folks…
Yes, rice (a staple of a gluten-free diet) contains arsenic.
And what’s worse?
We now know that the arsenic damages genetic material in YOUR body.
A new study has found that elevated arsenic levels in rice can produce detectable damage at a cellular level. That the levels of arsenic detectable in urine from people eating rice is much higher than those avoiding it altogether.
I don’t know about you, but I’d like to keep my genetic material as unaltered as possible because mutations can cause all sorts of problems. Plus you’d have to wonder the potential issues that could arise from passing on genetic material to your kids that’s affected by this.
